LATIN QUARTER
The old student quarter of Paris, the Latin Quarter is home to the Sorbonne University, the Pantheon, the Jardin de Luxembourg, Place St-Michel, Notre Dame and one zillion tourists.
ST GERMAIN DES PRES
Just West of the Latin Quarter in the direction of the Eiffel Tower, St Germain des Pres is a class act. Fashion boutiques and world-famous cafes pack the (spotless) streets around the churches of St. Sulpice and St. Germain des Pres.

EIFFEL TOWER
The neighborhood surrounding the Eiffel Tower is peaceful, romantic, and rather pricey. Though not the center of activity, it's within a short Metro ride of most major sights.
RIGHT BANK
CHATELET
Smack in the center of town, Chatelet puts you in within walking distance of Pompidou, the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Marais, Les Halles, and more. Bustling during the day and, in some areas, a bit seedy at night.
LOUVRE
Located to the West of Chatelet, the area surrounding the Louvre puts you within walking distance of the museum, the Jardin de Tuilleries, the Opera, the Seine and more. Peaceful and quiet at night.
MARAIS
Located to the East of Chatelet, the Marais is the trendiest neighborhood on our list. The gay headquarters of Paris, the Marais is home to cool cafes, bars, restaurants, and assorted other hip stores. Friendly, safe, and romantic.
MONTMARTRE & OPERA
Montmartre's winding streets, overlooking Paris, inspired generations of starving artists and bohemians. Today, though packed with tourist-ready restaurants and jazz bars, you can still find glimpses of the "village's" colorful past. Twenty minutes South, the Opera district offers some of Paris' most famous sights and shopping. (The Opera district also borders the Louvre.)
