The Neighborhoods of London...
Where do you want to sleep?

HOW THE CITY WORKS
London is a huge and fascinating collection of neighborhoods and districts. "The City" refers to the original walled city, situation North of the winding River Thames. Today this neighborhood falls in the Eastern part of town. To its West is the "West End," a group of neighborhoods (including Bloomsbury) that houses many of the city's most popular tourist attractions, theatres and museums. South of the West End, but still North of the Thames, is the Westminster/Victoria district. Heading West from the West End, you find Hyde Park. North of the park, budget hotels are plentiful in the Bayswater and Paddington neighborhoods, while south of the park, in the lovely Kensington and Chelsea areas, hotels are much pricier. West of Kensington, however, the fashionable Earls Court neighborhood provides a great number of moderately priced hotels.

BLOOMSBURY & PICCADILLY
Situated cozily next to the West End, Bloomsbury has long been a popular resting point for tourists looking to be in the center of the action. But Bloomsbury also boasts its own attractions, including the British Museum, the University of London, and the lovely Russell Square. Bed and breakfasts abound and can often seem completely indistinguishable.
BAYSWATER & PADDINGTON
This residential area, situated North of Hyde Park, is absolutely crawling with cheap places to sleep. The neighborhood includes Paddington Station, which serves as a major transport hub. You're within walking distance of Hyde Park, and a short bus or tube ride to the major tourist destinations. Many beautiful squares, such as Norfolk Square near Paddington, are lined with places to sleep (many of which we list).
EARLS COURT & SOUTH KENSINGTON
Located South of Hyde Park and West of the pricier Kensington and Chelsea, Earls Court offers several moderately priced hotels in a neighborhood that, once working class, is becoming trendier with each passing day. Packed with inexpensive restaurants, pubs, cafes, Internet spots and more.
NEAR VICTORIA STATION
The streets surrounding Victoria Station are lined with nearly identical hotels, offering nearly identical and often charmless rooms. The area is perfect for those looking for a resting spot close to the station-indeed, we have found some lovely hotels. However, if you're planning on a longer stay, we'd suggest looking in a different neighborhood.
